Hello, and welcome to my journal. 🙂

/fəˈlisətē/ · noun

  1. The state of being happy, especially great happiness; contentment; joy; delight.
  2. The ability to find appropriate expression for one’s thoughts.
  3. Archaic: good fortune.

I’m not exactly sure what direction this journal will take. I want it to be real; I want it to be raw. I want it to be authentic to what I’m thinking and feeling, as each day comes. I want it to be a testament to the goodness and faithfulness of God, in the midst of life’s ups and downs. But I also want it to be full of tough topics and unanswered questions. This journal is a place of safety, where we can be honest with each other. Because we all struggle. We often struggle alone, believing that everyone else has got it all together. (Spoiler: we don’t.) I want to change that, because in being open about our pain, our weakness, our questions, we make it safe for others to share theirs.

I named this journal “felicity” not because it is something I have a handle on; it is something I seek to learn. I want to learn true joy. Because life is not always easy. Joy is not about having a happy-clappy life where everything goes just right; it is a life of contentment grounded in the faithfulness of God. I hope I can express my thought journey well. Let’s grow together.

About Me

My name is Tabi. I am a visual creative and a missionary who is passionate about loving people, quality design, and all the ways the two come together. I love nothing more that having good conversation over a cup of coffee. When alone, I enjoy working on DIY projects, reading 19th century literature, crocheting, web designing. I love exploring God’s creation, and appreciate all things that are natural, handmade, or old-fashioned. Toadstools and ampersands make me happy.

I desire to encourage the neglected and rejected, and affirm the value of every person. I am convinced that Christ came not only to die for our sins, but also so we might have a real, authentic relationship with Him. An authentic walk with God is not always pretty, but the journey—and the end—is worth it.

I am a Portland-based missionary working with Loom International. If you are interested in partnering with me, please visit this page. Or if you would like to receive email updates on what I am involved in, sign up here!
